In reality, he believes that the trader is a blasphemer against The Creator and has sent the player in the hope they will kill the trader. After the player has brought enough donations he will inform them that the money has been stolen by a trader and asks the player to bring it back.
After this he will enlist the player to collect donations from settlements around the Commonwealth. When he first meets the player he will declare them The Catalyst, an icon in their religion who is said to be able to operate outside The Creator’s plan as their agent. The church believes in a Creator who created everything and everything, and has preordained the path of all their lives.
Father Ben is the leader of a church in Vault 4 known as The Church of the Creator.
